I created this poster to help with some of that and you can grab it HERE. I used an awesome background I got from Surfing to Success, which looks beautiful in color, but will also look just fine in grayscale if you are being ink conscious :)
I always feel like stuff like this is good to share with colleagues, and it is perfect timing with Autism Awareness Month in April and Better Speech & Hearing Month in May. BUT, it is good to share anytime. It is really important that we be voices for our kids...to make sure that others are aware that the disabilities we help people to overcome do not define who they are.
I also have a sweet story to share....One of my favorite students, who just happens to be on the Autism spectrum, tugged my heart strings during our session today. We started talking about how it isn't nice to laugh at each other, and he piped up this quote that made me misty eyed...
"God protects me with his shield from bullies who are mean"
